Well, everyone's favorite fake holiday is almost here, and whether you're a single gal looking to treat yo' self or in a relationship and trying to drop hints (send me his email, I'll send him a link), I'm rounding up some of my favorite V-Day treats.  And clearly, this year, I'm looking to lounge.  (What? A girl could use a little relaxation.)  With a side of accessories.  I'll act super surprised when I open this chic nightshirt and adorable love bracelet from my "secret admirer" (AKA myself).  Hope everyone is having a great week - it's almost over!

Flannel Love

Blank NYC jeans (similar in black - I have these and love them);  Vermont Flannel Henley (definitely recommend ordering down a size);  Madewell fur scarf (similar);  Steve Madden booties;  Joelle Hawkens bag;  Ray-Ban sunglasses;  Bracelets: Lilli & Tori, C. Wonder, Gorjana
Despite our warmer temperatures lately, I just can't seem to step away from my plaid and flannel addiction, and this one, in particular, has been in heavy rotation.  It's oversized and oh-so-cozy, and I just can't get enough.  We snapped these photos a couple of Saturdays ago when I dragged Eric with me on a Target run, something I usually immediately regret.  And this time was, well, as "delightful" as ever.  I just don't understand - how could anyone not like playing photographer and going to Target on a Saturday afternoon? ;)

While New York and my East Coast friends are bracing themselves for a blizzard, we had a seriously warm weekend in California.  Like warm enough to go to the beach.  Not kidding.  Mother Nature can be oh so strange.  Lately I've been turning to these old faithful faux leather shorts again and again.  Paired with an easy tee or lightweight sweater, they feel slightly January-appropriate (in Southern California anyway) without causing overheating.  (By the way, this Topshop tee is so good.  I will definitely be stocking up.)  Hope everyone had a great weekend and an even better week ahead.  Stay warm, East Coast friends!

Kardashian Kollection jumpsuit (c/o) Sears;  Rebecca Minkoff bag;  Banana Republic belt (similar);  Ray-Ban sunglasses
My love of a good jumpsuit has been well documented, so when I found this little number from Sears, it was a pretty easy purchase.  I love the tapered sleeves and the fact that there's a tiny snap securing the wrap front.  I wore this recently to Eric's company Christmas party (in January), and I felt comfortable in it all night.  (Comfort is key for a party that lasted a couple of extra hours and ended with a pinata in the rain.  Just saying.)  Here's hoping your weekend is pretty kick-ass.

February's New York Fashion Week is just around the corner, and in my eyes, there's pretty much nothing better.  This time around, sadly it looks like I won't make it to the East Coast for the shows, previews, parties, and general excuse to see some of my favorite New Yorkers, but regardless, I'm feeling inspired and can't help but look back at last February's trip.  It was my first time to Fashion Week and I didn't really know what to expect, but I thought that I was at least slightly prepared for the Polar Vortex (is that what it's called?) that I was heading into.  It turns out that I was not.  Not at all.  It was COLD.  In the end, I did learn a few things:
  1. Fleece-lined tights saved my life.  I wished that I had brought more pairs because I wore them under absolutely everything.
  2. My footwear choices REALLY defined my day.  Was I shimmying along all day on slick flat boots or A-OK to actually walk in a pair with decent traction?  Admittedly, I don't really own anything that's snow-approved, but I did my best.
  3. Bring a coat that goes with lots of looks, because, well - you're wearing it nonstop.  When you do get inside someplace heated, it's much nicer to toss off your coat when you have something fun (like the skirt above) underneath.
  4. And finally, since I pretty much wore the same coat everyday with the exception of a couple of days, standout accessories were key for feeling more put together.  A statement bag (like the drool-worthy Chanel above), chunky necklace, or cocktail ring could really help change up a look.
So today I've put together a few pieces that would go into my NYFW suitcase complete with statement accessories from Union & Fifth, a brilliant nonprofit that sells donated consignment designer goods and donates 100% of the proceeds to charity.  Seriously.  You can shop by item or by the particular charity you are most interested in.  It's a good deal, Lucille, and definitely a site worth peeping.

Second only to the t-shirt dress in the lazy girl's handbook, I present to you the sweatshirt dress, and it's just as cozy as you'd imagine.  This one rings in under $20, and it's well worth it.  For me (about 5'9") it's pretty short, so I wore a pair of lace shorts under it just in case.  And while we're talking cozy, let's talk about this scarf.  It is SO yummy.  It's currently sold out in this colorway, but there are several new colors in the same exact cut and material.  Needless to say I'm thinking about which one I need next.  Hope everyone is snug as a bug and cruising through their week - we're halfway there!

Keeping things simple today with ripped skinnies and a favorite preppy sweater.  I'm not usually into matchy matchy, but I loved how the ankle straps of the shoes mimic the lines of the sweater, so I went with it.  So how was everyone's weekend?  Mine included finding a new favorite sushi restaurant (Sota Sushi in Corona del Mar), which is always a plus.  The food was amazing, their in-house sake was delicious, and the night ended with one enthusiastic chef excitedly ripping off his shirt and dancing around the room.  I can't make this shit up, people.  Hope your week is equally as wild.

Happy Friday, friends!  I thought it just might never get here this week, but (phew!) I was wrong.  Today's look is probably my most typical uniform these days.  This t-shirt dress is still in heavy rotation, and I pretty much haven't taken these boots off since I got them.  They're so comfy and make any look better pretty much instantly.  This weekend I've got real big plans of completely cleaning out my closet because next week I'm teaming up with a few of my favorite gals and selling pieces I no longer have room for.  Save the date, I'll see you there!  Have a great weekend!

And when the pink is high voltage fuschia ponyhair, small doses of pink will do.  I drooled over this bag forever until Piperlime's 60% off sale after Christmas when I finally decided to pull the trigger.  (It's now sold out on Piperlime, but you can find it on sale here.)  Along with these boots that I've worn the crap out of lately.  Two decisions I definitely do not regret.  Glorious mail day indeed.  The good news?  Piperlime is having another great sale that ends today.  Take an additional 60% off all sale merchandise with code "BESTSALE".
