When I found out that this week's T.J. Maxx style challenge was based around spring brights, the first thing that came to mind was their amazing selection of bright spring denim.  While scouting out looks for last week's ladylike post, I was constantly drawn back towards the racks of designer denim in every print and color under the rainbow.  This week I narrowed it down to three bold choices, and after much in-store debate, I ended up heading home with this pair of turquoise skinnies.  The denim is so soft, and they fit like a cozy little springtime glove.  (Although I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a cozy little springtime glove.  Anyways...)  I can't wait to wear them with so many other pieces from my closet, but I love them paired with this light-as-a-feather sheer-ish yellow blouse.  A neutral and coral handbag added the final burst of spring color, while the versatile sandals from last week's post rounded the whole look out.

Don't forget - you too can get in on the fun!  Submit your own T.J. Maxx Style Scout looks for a chance to win up to a $500 gift card.  Simply upload a picture of your T.J. Maxx style scores via Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.  Tag #maxxstyle, and include the designer name and price of your find.  (View full rules here.)  Good luck!

Spring Stripes

If you haven't noticed by now, "it's time for springtime".  (At least it is according to me, my blog, and Target.  My apologies to those of you looking at snow right now.)  It's this time of year (and let's admit it, many others) that I am so thankful for the weather where I live.  With this week's theme du jour being stripes, many people would immediately think of a cozy striped sweater.  If you're searching for a little sunshine, feast your eyes on the bright and cheery, flippy and fun striped mini dress above.  I'm in love.  Are you?

Although it isn't very hard to come by, a good stripe is one of those prints that is perfect for guys, girls, babies and couches and can fit easily into the thickest wool sweater and the flirtiest of summer dresses.  The mini above pays extra attention to a woman's shape and the color combination is so right on point.  Paired with a chain-strap bag, oversized shades, a fun floral shoe and delicate gold layers of jewelry, it's springtime perfection.  But if it isn't quite your thing, turn your gaze below to the slightly grown-up maxi form of the spring stripe.  I love the balance of blush and black, and this maxi plays so well with a simple sandal, beaded jewels and a crossbody bag.  Top it off with, what else, a striped scarf.  How are you incorporating stripes into your springtime wardrobe?

One of my favorite statement looks for spring includes printed pants, and they're probably easier to pull off than you might think.  Add a neutral tank and nude heels for a look that is perfect for a spring night on the town, or top them off with a neutral or bold-hued blazer for an office-friendly daytime take.  Finish the look with a statement necklace, luxe leather clutch and sleek aviators.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Dress: (c/o) Old Navy; Wedges: Urban Outfitters; Bag: (c/o) Gorjana; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Necklaces: (c/o) Old Navy
Lately I've been focusing on finding great style on a budget, so I'm really excited to partner with Old Navy for the next few months to show you some of the season's hottest trends without blowing your rent check.  This week the topic is dresses, and I was not prepared for how many dresses I'd find (and love!) during a way-too-long trip through Old Navy.  I finally chose this colorblocked silk shirtdress because, well, I just love it and that's reason enough.  Plus it's incredibly versatile.  It's lightweight and comfortable and goes just as well with a pair of sandals as with a pair of wedges or heels.  Whatever your style, from eyelet fit-and-flares to jersey maxis, there's a flippy little something for everyone, and for a limited time, they're all on sale.  The best part about spring's wide range of dresses?  It's so easy to make them all your own: belt 'em, jacket 'em, throw on some jewels.  There's no better time to upgrade your wardrobe!

A great black maxi dress is definitely one of the closet staples I couldn't do without, and this racerback tank version from Topshop is probably one of my favorites.  It's the easiest bet for a casual wedding, cocktail party, or, in the case of this weekend, my very first quinceanera.  A studded belt and bold crossbody bag added the final touches.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!

If you've been following along on Instagram over the past week, you may have noticed I've spent a chunk of time checking out the trends at T.J. Maxx.  (And perhaps a larger chunk of time simply checking out the handbags.  Note to self: must remember to focus on clothes sometimes...but the bags were SO good in the meantime.)  As part of the #maxxstylescout campaign (the Maxx-capades as I'm lovingly calling it), I'll be showing you four trends of the season using clothing and accessories from, yep, T.J. Maxx.

This week focuses on pastels and ladylike silhouettes and prints.  I spent a leisurely Saturday spending way too much time roaming through every department.  I headed to the fitting rooms three times on account of finding something I'd missed every time I came out.  I had chosen my outfit: a floaty floral blouse, tailored white pants and these tan and gunmetal shoes that I've actually had my eye on for a while now.  And then I saw this dress.  The sherbet striped, pleated maxi was something so far out of my comfort zone, but I immediately loved it.  It's by one of my favorite brands and is so well-made.  The under layer is fitted and structured, and the outer chiffon is so fun for spring.  It will be perfect for an upcoming wedding, and it's also been on display in my house for a few days now.  (Although the manfriend says it's time to put it away.)  That's the thing about T.J. Maxx - when you aren't expecting it, you'll find something so perfect and beautiful.  Or maybe just something to wear for the night.

And now, T.J. Maxx is letting you in on the fun.  By submitting pictures of your own Maxx-capades finds, you can win up to a $500 gift card!  Simply post your image on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook and tag #maxxstyle to enter.  Be sure to mention the designer and price of your TJ score!  (Check out additional details and the official rules here.)  Good luck, and happy shopping!
xoxo

Red has never really had a place in my closet, but when I found this cutout mini in the Urban Outfitters sale section a couple months ago for $14, I figured it should come home with me.  The same goes for the cap-toe wedges that set me back a whopping $8.  (I know.  It was my lucky day.)  There's really nothing better to me than finding a great bargain, except when the great bargains become wardrobe favorites that I reach for again and again.  In the spirit of bargain hunting, I'm so excited for a few upcoming projects that focus on style on a budget.  Stay tuned!

Spring Obsession: Aqua and Yellow

3/19/2013

Nothing says spring quite like a bold, sunny color combo, and this spring I'm loving aqua and yellow for a fresh-squeezed feel.  Thanks to Target, you can easily (and affordably!) get the look both in your wardrobe and in your home.  A great pair of yellow skinnies adds a jolt to your tired denim wardrobe, and at $23, you may want to stock up.  Pair them with a versatile striped peplum tank, and add bright pops of turquoise in the form of a floral handbag, beaded bracelets and drop earrings.  Finish the weekend-friendly look with statement sandals and retro shades.

If you're looking around your living room thinking you could use a little springtime spruce, look no further than Target's home section.  Add a bright pillow to a bland chair or sofa, or create a focal point with an interesting vase.  Switch out a tired picture for a fresh floral print or Paris-themed poster, or lighten up a dark corner with a mix and match ombre and floral lamp.  Try a new frame with some old favorite pictures to add a personal touch to your living space.  Whether you rock aqua and yellow on the street, in your home, or both, you can't go wrong with this bold spring color combo.

Dress: (c/o) LA Made; Sandals: (c/o) Fibi & Clo; Clutch: (c/o) Gorjana; Cuff: Karen London; Bracelets: (c/o) Gorjana, C. Wonder; Rings: (c/o) Stella & Bow, by boe; Watch: Michael Kors; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
I'm a sucker for a good spring maxi.  I first pulled this dress out a few weeks ago (when it was probably a little too cold to wear it), but this past weekend the weather was perfect for a comfy cotton maxi dress.  I love the soft fabric, exaggerated side slits and neck detailing of this one from LA Made, and these sparkly sandals from Fibi & Clo (last seen here) will definitely be in high rotation this summer.  What spring pieces in your closet are you getting excited about?  Hope everyone had an amazing weekend!
