Last Thursday I was so thrilled to co-host the Nordstrom YOUphoria campaign in San Diego along with the lovely Olia of Love, Olia.  After a killer (and I mean KILLER) shopping trip at Nordstrom Fashion Valley, I chose my fall YOUphoria look and then proceeded to beg, plead, and beg some more for all of your votes.  I was so excited for the event to finally be here, and the night did not disappoint.  A D.J. was on hand to keep the mood up, but what really got everyone excited were the makeover stations.  Readers were treated to a lash bar, hair station, makeup artists, and a really fun DIY flower headband table.  Guests could sip champagne and snack on assorted cheeses, sushi, and delicious brownies (And delicious they were - trust me, I nabbed a couple for the ride home), all while shopping the season's latest looks.

Olia and I got to create our own curated sections with clothing and accessories that fit with our own styles, and true to my recent leather obsession, my rack was filled with sleek leather pieces contrasted with soft, girly touches.  Towards the end of the night, the winner of the fashion face-off was announced, and thanks to all of you, I won!  I'm so thankful for all of your votes and kind words, and I'm so happy that I got to meet some really amazing people at the event.  Thank you so much to Nordstrom for throwing a super sweet shopping party (the best kind of party, of course) and to all of YOU for all of your support.  For a campaign that was all about finding YOUphoria, mine was definitely found.
xoxo

P.S. - Stay tuned this week for new and improved images from the event.

After navigating spring's hottest trends with T.J.Maxx a few months ago (and fueling a serious T.J. shopping habit in the process), I'm so excited to team up with them again to explore a few of fall's best finds.  For this week's style challenge, we were asked to choose one key piece for fall and style it three different ways.  I headed out shopping with an open mind, but I knew immediately when I found this blouse that this was the piece.  To me, there's nothing more versatile than a neutral silk blouse, and this one is absolutely yummy.  It's one of those amazing silk pieces that works now and will be in my closet forever.

For the first look, I paired it with one of fall's hottest trends (and a personal favorite) - slouchy pants.  With bold heels, it's office-friendly but works for after hours too.  For a more relaxed feel, comfy skinny jeans and loafers are the perfect pairings for taking a silk blouse out for a weekend spin.  It's a great throw-on-and-go luxe kind of thing, no?  And finally, for a night out, tuck the top into a fringed leather skirt and add a statement clutch. (How good is this clutch?  Definitely a sweet find.)  If you're looking to pick up a few fall must-haves, T.J.Maxx is a one-stop shop for those pieces you've been eying.

Oh, and on my way out, I stopped by the beauty department and finally got my hands on a clip-less curling iron that I've been wanting to try.  I need a little practice, but I'm really digging the wind-blown beach waves effect of my first try.  I also grabbed a couple of bottles of my favorite dry shampoo, a necessity for those of us with toddler hair.  Trust me, the beauty section was packed with brands I didn't expect to find there, and I may or may not have gone a little nuts.  But what good is the perfect fall outfit without a little hair and makeup to match?

xoxo
Expressing yourself through fashion, and knowing how to put together a great look—at great value, is what being a Maxxinista is all about.  At T.J.Maxx you can score the unexpected to make your own personal style statement. Here’s to rockin’ your real deal.

Right now would probably be my favorite time of the year for getting dressed: the weeks when pairing a cozy fall sweater with a mini skirt or shorts and booties totally makes sense.  I love the copper pullover above paired with the unexpected snake-print mini.  A structured red crossbody adds a little color while stacked gold jewelry is the cherry on top.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Over the years, I've probably read or been told about four million times that every woman needs that perfect white shirt.  For someone who can be a bit hard to fit up top (to say the least), it all sounded like a bunch of gibberish.  (The perfect white shirt?  Get outta town.)  When I came across these InStyle Essentials white shirts, I really didn't think much of them until I saw the sizing.  Unlike any others I've seen, these three classic styles are all sized by bra size.  (I know, why didn't you think of that?)  Whether you're petite, curvy, or somewhere in between, there's a perfect fit for you, no pulling, no tugging, no gapping.  Don't believe me?  Well then enter below to win your own.  Comment below with your choice between a classic button-down, bow blouse, or the weekend tunic, which I'm wearing above.  As for the bottoms, I've been dying to break in these faux leather front leggings, and I can promise that these will make many appearances in the coming months.  A couple pops of red and gold jewelry finished off the look.  Enter below to win - good luck!  (Open to US residents only, a winner will be announced on Tuesday, October 1st.)

Target skirt; H&M sweater (c/o); DMSX booties; Tory Burch bag (c/o) Nordstrom; Old Navy necklace; Gorjana rings ("Knot" and "Hope") (c/o)
In today's third and final (for now) look with this flippy little mini (also check out Day 1 and 2), I'm keeping things super easy with a favorite black sweater (last seen here) and sky-high ankle booties.  I love how the fit of the sweater creates the perfect drop-waist silhouette (my favorite), and the built-in bracelet sleeves make accessorizing a breeze.  A bold handbag adds a fun pop of color, and a few pieces of jewelry round out the look.  (How great are these new rings from the Gorjana X Damsel in Dior collection?  Swoon.)  And now, onto the weekend.  Happy Friday, everyone!

Sliver of Skin

With all the crop tops popping up in the blog and fashion world lately, you may be thinking (much like I did), "What the hell?"  Don't fret my pet, they're easier to pull off than you might imagine.  If you're dying to dip your toes into the cropped top madness without looking like a Vegas weekend gone wrong, just stick with high-waisted bottoms to reveal a small sliver of skin.  (Hint: Cover your belly button.)  This pencil skirt is a bit on the pricey side, but the leather and longer cut are so perfect for fall.  Choose a statement heel and even more statement jewels, and round the whole thing out with an unexpected white crossbody.  Feeling adventurous yet?

After Monday's sporty style, I decided to kick the vibe up a notch and paired the versatile navy mini with a favorite knotted tee and wedge sneakers.  A statement necklace helps cool down the tomboy factor, and stacked jewels and a crossbody bag finish it off.  During the warm transitional days into fall, this is the perfect cool and comfy combo for whatever the day throws at you.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

There's nothing better than stocking up on a few fall essentials (and a couple non-essentials) at the start of a new season, so I was beyond excited when Nordstrom invited me to be a part of their YOUphoria campaign.  I headed down to Nordstrom Fashion Valley in San Diego to check out a few of the season's trends and pick out my perfect fall outfit with the help of their fabulous stylist Alex.  Armed with a gift card and heavy amounts of caffeine, I hit the ground running and was less than surprised when each outfit that I tried on involved a little leather.  While I had a hard time leaving this Trouve Perforated Skirt behind, I ended up going for these easy faux leather shorts paired with a cozy cropped sweater.  Then off to shoes.  And bags.  And jewelry.  And finally to the NARS makeup chair.  Topped off with my first pumpkin spice latte of the season, it was pretty much my perfect day.  YOUphoria at its best.

And now, for the fun part.  Head over here to vote for my look and RSVP for next week's YOUphoria Fashion Face-Off event at Nordstrom Fashion Valley.  On Thursday, September 26th at 6:00 pm, join me and the fabulous team at Nordstrom for a fun shopping event complete with refreshments, giveaways, makeovers, music and fun!  I hope to see everyone there and so appreciate your vote!

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Sweatshirt; Target Skirt; Zara Heels; Forever 21 Clutch and Sunglasses; OK1984 Necklace; Nars Matte Lipstick Pencil in Dragon Girl
One of my favorite pieces for fall this year is definitely a flippy mini skirt.  Perfect with bare legs now and over tights later, it's surprisingly versatile and easy to wear.  (This particular skirt was a quick grab at Target and priced right at around 17 bucks.)  For a fun weekend look, I paired it with this pop art sweatshirt (another favorite fall trend) from the Phillip Lim for Target collection.  (Did you guys battle the crowds and score anything from the Phillip Lim for Target Collection?)  Statement heels and an oversized clutch helped dress the look up a bit.  Stay tuned this week for two more ways to wear fall's flippy mini.
