Articles of Society jeans (c/o); Old Navy chambray shirt; Lands' End jacket (c/o); Zara scarf (Also love this one); Halogen heels; Rebecca Minkoff bag; Ray-Ban sunglasses; Vita Fede ring; Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Napa Vineyard Confession: I have WAY more jackets than someone living in Southern California should. And with limited closet space, it's kind of a problem. But is there anything better than cozy-ing up in a soft jacket and big blanket scarf as soon as fall starts? I think not. And although I've got a few winter toppers, this little wool boucle jacket from Lands' End was the perfect addition for this fall. It fits me perfectly and is incredibly versatile. Today I'm pairing it with a little denim on denim, mixed prints combo, and I could just as easily wear it as a feminine touch to an edgy leather look. It's timeless and can work in my wardrobe for seasons to come. If you're looking to add to your own fall and winter outerwear, check out the selection from Lands' End for everything from dressy to casual, neutrals to prints and bold hues. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend and a happy Halloween! xoxo Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Lands' End, but all opinions are my own. If there's one thing I've learned about my skin over the years, it's that moisture is key. I usually didn't even include moisturizer into my daily routine because I was so scared of looking oily. Earlier this year though I got into a twice-a-day moisturizer habit, and it definitely changed my skin for the better. Now I'm all about creams, lotions, and potions to keep my skin from drying out, but I really hadn't tested out any of the facial oils on the market until now. I recently tried out the facial oil from Olay's Regenerist Luminous line, and I must admit I was skeptical. I've been a fan of Olay for a while, but come on. Oil? On my face? After trying it out, my mind was changed. The formula is SUPER light (very different from any oils in your beach bag), and you only need a couple of drops. I rub in 5-6 drops, let it sit for a minute, and then apply my makeup as I normally would. And at night, I'm still slathering on Olay's Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream before bed. I wake up in the morning with smooth, even-toned skin with less dark circles. If you've never tried the line (or facial oils in general), now is the perfect time because both products are on sale at Walgreens. Or, if you're feeling lucky, click around below to enter to win Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil, Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream, an Aquis Micro Fiber Headband (so great for washing your face), and a $75 gift card to Walgreens. Good luck! xoxo P.S. - Here's the current promotion: From October 26th-November 2nd Walgreens is featuring the Olay Luminous Moisturizer and Eye Cream on sale for $23.99. Plus there is a $3 brandSAVER coupon in the October 26th paper so you can pick up these fabulous products for only $20.00 each! These little shoe/booties were one of the first things that caught my eye in the store, but because I need another pair of booties right now like I need a hole in my head, I tried to steer clear and stick with a few fresh clothing options for fall. One of my goals was to find an easy shift or shirt dress that I can wear now and into fall with a jacket and booties. When I came across this one, the fit was just what I was looking for, so I bought it in two colors. (Hey, it was early. I'm not great at decision-making at 7:00 am.) Then after a little more roaming around the store and just because I couldn't help myself, I swung back around for the booties, because, oh, what's one more pair? I love the black and white of this look paired with a bold lip, and I know these pieces will be in heavy rotation this fall...if fall ever gets here. Hope everyone is having a great week!
xoxo P.S. - Don't forget to enter the $500 Shopbop Giveaway! lucy Perfect Core Legging, Workout Bra, Workout Racerback, and Yoga Girl Long Sleeve (all c/o) www.lucy.com I've never really liked working out. Seriously, never. It seemed like a hassle, like an extra thing to worry about in my day. I've always gotten by with the occasional jog or long bike ride up until recently. About a year ago I started to make it a priority to get out and move at least a couple times a week, and more recently I've started working out with the help of Erica Ziel, a fitness expert based here in Newport Beach. She specializes in prenatal and after-baby fitness (two categories I do NOT fall into, FYI), but she really just knows a woman's body well and targets specific muscles through her workouts for your desired needs. She's so good at what she does, tough enough to kick my butt into shape but also understanding of my less-than-stellar strength, and she's helping me to fix my horrible posture. (Should've listened to my parents all those years ago...) For the first time, I actually really look forward to these workouts and am so glad that I've gone afterwards. We normally do a mix of weights, mat exercises, and reformer machines in a local gym, but it's been so nice here lately that outside is also an option. (It doesn't hurt that Newport Beach provides us with a lot of really great outdoor scenery.) Now, a workout isn't a hassle or something extra to worry about in my day. It's a necessary part, a time to kind of clear my head and enjoy a little break from my computer. The time away has actually made me more productive when I start my day. And let's face it - if I'm going to work out, the clothes are key, right? My go-to pieces are leggings and easy racerback tanks with something that I can throw on over it when I'm headed home. (Or, more likely, headed to three errands before home.) These basics from lucy.com are beyond comfortable and gym-to-street appropriate, perfect for days on the go. Now, lucy is giving one lucky winner a little more "me time". Head over here to enter the "This Is For You Giveaway" where one reader will win one year of housecleaning, babysitting, or meal deliveries. Good luck! xoxo P.S. - Huge thanks to Erica Ziel for getting my butt moving. If you're in Newport Beach, she's amazing. Umm, shopping a brand new store before anyone's had a chance to move things around? I'm there. And this Marshalls did not disappoint. From the staple sweaters and jackets to handbags (so good) and rows and rows of boots, there were designer finds as far as the eye could see. I left with a pair of booties and a couple of dresses that I am way excited about. Stay tuned next week to see my picks on the blog! And if you're in the LA area, I'd definitely recommend swinging by the new Marshalls on Hollywood Blvd - it's a great one.
xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Wallis blouse and jacket (c/o); Sanctuary pants; Forever 21 clutch; Call It Spring heels (c/o); Ray-Ban sunglasses It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of fur. Fur anything. (Well, almost.) Mainly fur jackets and vests, a favorite new clutch, and a throw blanket on my couch that I probably use when it's a little too warm to do so. Needless to say, when checking out Wallis' new "W Collection", this burgundy leather-trimmed fur baby was a definite standout. After styling this Wallis printed blouse for now in Monday's post, today I'm styling it for later, once the temperatures drop. I love pairing oxblood with light blue for the fall, and this pairing is no exception. Faux leather leggings and ankle-strap heels complete the look. Now if we could only get some of those cooler temps... xoxo Most morning, my makeup routine consists of concealer, my favorite powder foundation, and a little eye makeup to keep things clean and simple, but when it really matters, I always start with a little primer on top of my moisturizer. It makes my makeup last longer and prevents the mid-day shine that can be inevitable. There are so many options out there ranging in prices and promises, but above are a few that I've tried and love. The bareMinerals "Prime Time" is my everyday go-to because it's really light and doesn't leave a greasy feeling. The Smashbox "Photo Finish" is definitely a bit heavier, but it is great for an ultra-matte finish, perfect for an event or special occasion. The Neutrogena version is an excellent drug store find, and the Urban Decay Brightening & Tightening potion helps smooth those fine lines and brighten dull skin. For lips, Too Faced Lip Primer readies your pout for even the most unforgiving lipstick. As for the eyes, I've never been a big fan of eye primers because it just seems like an unnecessary extra step, but this 5 in 1 from bareMinerals does it all - brightens, smooths, has built-in color, and includes SPF. Let me know - did I leave off any of your favorites? xoxo The Lineup:1. Smashbox Photo Finish Light Primer $36
2. bareMinerals Prime Time BB Primer with SPF 30 $26 3. Neutrogena Shine Control Primer $10 4. Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer $19 5. bareMinerals 5 in 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow $18 6. Urban Decay Brightening & Tightening Complexion Primer Potion $31 Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Wallis blouse (c/o); Forever 21 shorts; Sam Edelman boots (similar here); H&M necklace, bracelet, and clutch The British fashion brand Wallis has released a brand new, limited-edition "W Collection" for fall and holiday, and it is so good. (And psst, it's all on sale!) The premium collection includes high end basics like knitwear and leather pants and luxe standouts like this sequined dress, perfect for the holidays. While we're still in the middle of our Indian summer here in Southern California, I decided to take this printed blouse from the collection for a spin and style it for now and later (coming to the blog later this week). The shirt is a pretty strong piece on its own, so I kept things pretty simple with leather shorts peeking out, fringe suede boots, and a couple of statement jewels. It's an easy bohemian look that can go from day to night. Stay tuned this week to see this shirt into the winter months.
xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Poncho, skirt, and booties all (c/o) T.J.Maxx If you've been following this blog for a bit, by now you know I'm a huge fan of T.J.Maxx. When I need a specific outfit or when I just want to browse, it's one of the first stores that I think of. Their new in-store campaign, Maxx Life, is all about the style choices women make to express themselves, and I couldn't identify with it more. I dress according to my mood, so my own personal style is always an expression of who I am that day. My main concern though is usually casual comfort. I work from home in front of a computer every day, but sometimes I have to run out for an errand or meeting at a moment's notice. It's important to me to have comfortable basics that still feel pulled together. This poncho was a recent find at T.J.Maxx, and I immediately knew it had to come home with me. It's so soft, and the pockets and detailing make it feel so luxe. Once we get a little cooler weather here, I'll definitely be pairing it with skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots, but for now, I loved the girly feel of wearing it with this coated denim skirt. (It's also a new favorite - you'll be seeing more of this skirt in posts to come.) Add booties and accessories, and it turned out to be the perfect little fall look for me, comfortable enough for all day but something I would absolutely wear to meet with a client. Hope everyone had a great week, and happy Friday! How will your style choices this weekend express who you are?
