Break up the monotone color palette with a bold scarf and contrasting heels, and top it all off with a red lip. I don't know about you guys, but I'm SO ready for a little fall weather and a lot of fall fashion! xoxo

From dresses and tops to handbags and heels, I'm loving the preppy meets grunge feel of plaid pieces, and this dress from Lulu's is so great for transitioning into the new season. I wore it to last Saturday's RewardStyle party during NYFW, and it was the perfect mini for an afternoon party. Black booties, a leather jacket, and statement jewelry helped complete the look. If you're looking to add a little plaid into your fall wardrobe, look no further than Lulu's for some seriously chic options. Happy shopping, and happy Friday, everyone! xoxo Photos thanks to Zack Seckler and T.J.Maxx/Marshalls Sweatshirt, skirt, heels, bag all (c/o) T.J.Maxx New York Fashion Week can definitely be one of the most challenging trips for me when it comes to packing. There's the "I have nothing to wear" meltdown followed by the "holy crap I need to go shopping" epiphany. In an effort to look pulled together and on-trend without completely breaking the bank, I definitely make it a priority to check out Marshalls and T.J.Maxx a few times in the weeks leading up to the trip. It's amazing how many quality wardrobe staples and trendy extras you can find. I've always found great looks at T.J.Maxx and Marshalls, but lately, they've stepped it way up. (I'm talking designer dresses and handbag heaven.) For this past NYFW, I first found these shoes and knew I wanted to find a look that was sporty for fall. I thought the sweatshirt was so fun, and this skirt is one of those pieces that I'll have forever. The bag was the final piece of the puzzle, and I added in my own jewelry to personalize it. A big thanks to T.J.Maxx and Marshalls for one of my favorite looks this #NYFW. What are some of your favorite fab finds? xoxo Disclosure: “This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group®, InStyle, Vogue and Elle, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #inspirefallfashion http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV” Photos thanks to Kaela Rodehorst Photography H&M sweater, shorts, scarf; Lulu's heels; Rebecca Minkoff bag; Forever 21 sunglasses; La Mer Collections watch The weather outside may not quite agree, but I am so ready for fall fashion and all of its trends. At the start of every fall, I can't wait for the September issues to come out, and this year's did not disappoint. I stocked up on magazines at Target, and today I'm working with Pollinate Media to create an outfit inspired by one of my favorite September issues, Vogue. One of the key trends they highlighted for fall is "Orange Is the New Black," and I couldn't be more excited. Orange is such a warm color for fall, and I love the slouchy, cozy feeling of this oversized sweater paired with lace-trimmed shorts, a patterned scarf, and heels. Now I'm on the hunt for more orange pieces for fall (exaggerated wide leg pants perhaps?) and can't wait to wear this sweater so many different ways.
If you haven't checked out this year's September issues yet, don't miss out! Now through September 13th, head over to Target - when you buy 2 or more fall fashion magazines (InStyle, Vogue, and/or Elle), you'll get a $5 Target gift card. (And what's not to love about that?) xoxo For those of you in the rest of the country with some sort of normal weather pattern, this post may seem a little winter unfriendly, but the high for us today is 86 degrees and shorts season is still in full swing. For the in-between, sort of fall season we're in, my favorite thing to wear is a pair of faux leather track shorts with a fun sweater. (If you're lucky enough to be enjoying winter, add a pair of tights, a classic coat, and a chunky scarf.) Finish the look with easy booties (these are a serious steal), a contrasting bag, and one of my favorite accessories this season, a wide-brim hat. On Sunday I got to celebrate a little early with a few of my favorite people at my favorite brunch spot. I picked up this little black shirtdress last week, and it turned out to be perfect for the oddly warm November weather we're having. It's one of those easy dresses that just works for so many occasions, and for Sunday brunch, I went casual with comfortable black booties and layered antique gold jewelry. We had a really great day with some pretty great people, and so far, 27 doesn't look half bad. xoxo Shop It: Shirtdresses Max Studio striped tee; Paige Denim plaid (c/o); American Apparel leggings; World Footwear Group boots (c/o) VAULT; Gorjana necklace; Bracelets:C.Wonder and Gorjana; Henri Bendel aviators In today's third and final installment of "These Boots Go With Anything", I'm wearing the $50 wonder boots with my typical fall Sunday morning duds. (See the other looks here and here.) These pictures were actually taken this past Sunday when we woke up pretty early and decided to walk to breakfast. (I'm not a morning person. Like, not even close. So on the weekends, if I wake up early enough to beat the breakfast crowds, we usually take advantage.) Black pants or leggings tucked into black over-the-knee boots create the illusion of long legs, and a cozy plaid was just made for Sunday mornings. Whether slipped over jeans or leggings or worn with a mini dress, these boots from VAULT are such an easy and versatile addition to your winter wardrobe, and I'm pretty sure I'll be once again wearing them all weekend if the weather cooperates. (Over-the-knee boots in 80 degree weather is really not advisable.) I'm excited for a little early birthday brunch on Sunday and hope everyone has an amazing weekend! xoxo P.S. - Don't forget to check out the VAULT blog! Photos thanks to Mozi Photography Yesterday I finally received a few images from this Nordstrom YOUphoria event I co-hosted back in September, so I thought I'd share them today for #ThrowbackThursday. It was such a fun night, and I'm so happy to have a few snaps to remember it. (It's not everyday your blog name is hanging from the ceiling in Nordstrom.) Hope everyone is having a great week!
xoxo Express dress (old); H&M jacket; Quinn NYC scarf (c/o); World Footwear Boots (c/o) VAULT; Urban Outfitters socks; Calvin Klein sunglasses; BCBG studded bracelet; Avon lipstick in Rich Ruby In today's second look with these over-the-knee boots, I wanted to go for something a bit more fun. (Check out the first look here.) We had a birthday dinner to attend last night, so I paired them with a favorite little black sweatshirt dress and a moto-style jacket. Anytime I wear over-the-knee boots with a dress, I always like to add higher socks in the mix as well. I don't know why, I just do. I think maybe it softens the look and makes me feel a little less like I got dressed in Rihanna's closet. (Although I definitely wouldn't mind stealing a few looks from that closet.) A bold clutch, ultra-soft scarf, and a couple of studded bangles finished off the look. (And signature aviators, of course.) Hope everyone is having a great week, and stay tuned for a third look with these awesome boots from VAULT. xoxo P.S. - Don't forget to also check out the VAULT blog! Black Orchid jeans (c/o) VAULT; Equipment blouse; Margaret O'Leary sweater (c/o); World Footwear Group boots (c/o) VAULT; Tory Burch bag; C.Wonder bracelet A few years ago while shopping for a Halloween costume, I came across a reasonable pair of over-the-knee boots and scooped them up for my costume thinking I'd probably never wear them again. "Over-the-knee boots, so scandalous!" is pretty much what I was thinking. (Give me a break. I was new to L.A. and was never really into that shock factor when it came to my wardrobe.) A few weeks after that Halloween, I decided to try out the boots over a pair of skinny jeans and was immediately hooked. I couldn't believe how easy they were to throw on over jeans and leggings and how surprisingly non-scandalous they were when worn with the right sweater dresses. I wore them until the soles were gone and had to toss them out when their solelessness (totally a word) caused a serious slip-and-bust-my-butt moment on the way to class one rainy day. Fast forward to Fall 2013, and over-the-knee boots are EVERYWHERE. Seriously. And I've been on the hunt now for months. Every pair that I've found are either annoyingly pricey or have some sort of hardware that just doesn't sit well with me. When VAULT invited me to choose a couple of things from their site this month, these boots were a no-brainer. They're simple and fit well, and the dip in the back means they won't get all bent out of shape every time you sit down for more than five minutes. The best part? The price. (Fifty bucks, people. Fifty bucks.) Although I could probably wear these about 500 different ways, I'm narrowing it down and showing three fool-proof outfits with over-the-knee boots this week. For today's look, there's really nothing easier than throwing them over a pair of skinny jeans, but I love the contrast of pairing them with grey skinnies. And these grey skinnies just so happen to be a new favorite pair. I've had a thing for Black Orchid denim ever since the first pair I tried a few years ago. Their jeggings are the most comfortable you'll ever own, and I feel like the mid-rise fit is kind of made for my body. (I'm not 18 anymore, so the low-rise thing that a lot of brands do just doesn't work for me.) For premium denim, the price is also pretty hard to beat. (I could go on, but seriously, just try them.) I paired the bottom half with a yummy silk blouse and cozy-to-the-max sweater and finished things off with a bold handbag. Stay tuned this week for two more ways to wear these boots, and don't forget to check out the VAULT blog for the ramblings of me and a couple of other fabulous bloggers. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! xoxo Disclosure: This post is sponsored by VAULT, but all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make My Style Diaries possible.
