It's one of my go-to ways to look fall-ish without sweating to death. (Layering it over a plaid button-down and slapping on leather shorts and over-the-knee boots are however not encouraged when trying to keep cool. Just FYI.) These photos are finally making it up on the blog from last month's trip to Louisiana, and this day was a particular scorcher in New Orleans. But you know, when you pack your bags with "cool front" in mind, there's just no stopping the layers that will happen. Hope everyone is having a great week! xoxo P.S. - Don't forget to enter the Olay Regenerist Luminous Giveaway!

Although we all wanted to celebrate fall fashion and maybe rock a sweater or two, the truth of the matter is that New York was sweltering, with a heavy dose of humidity just for good measure. This little black dress from Lulu's was just about all the fabric I could muster for Friday's shows, and paired with an embellished belt and bow shoes, I liked that it was simple and chic. I brought along the leather jacket because the tents in stark comparison were an icebox zone. (Which I definitely did not mind.) Stay tuned for a couple more looks from Fashion Week coming up on the blog this week and next. xoxo DL1961 jeans; French Connection tank (similar); Free People jacket (similar); JustFab sandals; Louis Vuitton Verona bag; Ray-Ban sunglasses Last week was a pretty quiet one here on the blog, and for good reason. I got to take a road trip up the California Coast with a couple of friends from home, and it was an amazing few days. We made stops in Santa Barbara and Big Sur and spent our last couple of nights in San Francisco. (You can check out a few more snaps from the road over on Instagram.) I'd been to San Francisco before, but this time I definitely got to play tourist a bit, which is even more fun when you're with good friends. We managed to make it to The Castro, the Haight-Ashbury area, the 16th Avenue Mosaic Steps (where we took the photos above), the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, and Union Square. We stayed at the Galleria Park Hotel, and I'd definitely recommend it (and other joie de vivre Hotels in general) if you're headed to San Francisco. The hotel was really nice, and the staff was more than helpful and accommodating. Plus, a little "wine o'clock" every afternoon doesn't hurt. It's amazing what a few days of travel, lots of laughs, and catching up with your best friend can do for your spirits. I'm excited to be back and starting off this week feeling so refreshed. Hope everyone has a great week! xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Young Fabulous & Broke jumpsuit via Marshalls (similar); Report Signature flats (similar); Ann Taylor scarf; Louis Vuitton Verona bag; Free People leather jacket; Ray-Ban sunglasses These days when it comes to traveling, I'm no stranger to the red-eye flight. If I'm flying to the East Coast, it's the best way to maximize my time there. I usually don't mind taking an overnight flight because luckily I sleep so well on planes, but it can be tricky dressing for it. I want to be as comfortable as possible for sleeping (read: no jeans, heels, etc.), and I try to stick with non-wrinkling fabrics that won't look like a hot mess on arrival. Jersey maxi dresses and jumpsuits are always a favorite, and this one, found recently at Marshalls, is just the softest. The tapered legs mean I can wear it with flats, and it's easy enough to shimmy down during bathroom breaks. (TMI? Sorry, it's jumpsuit truth.) I'm usually cold on planes, so I make sure to bring a cozy scarf and warm jacket along with a roomy handbag big enough for the essentials. What is your go-to look when traveling? xoxo Well guys, the "New Voices of Beauty" campaign that I've been fortunate enough to work on over the past six months is coming to an end, and I'm one sad turtle. It's been such a pleasure working with COVERGIRL, Pantene, Secret, Olay, and the lovely ladies over at Lucky Magazine, plus the experience has been amazing. Beyond the travel, beauty product overload, and picture in Lucky Magazine (pinch me), I've made a couple of really great friends along the way. Naty, Amy, and Katie are all brilliant contributors to this blogging community and are, in general, just really rad girls to know. It all started back in October at Lucky FABB in New York. On a whim, I signed up for some video competition even though I'm definitely no ace in front of a video camera. Remember this shaky little audition video? Painfully awkward. But the powers that be over at P&G saw honesty, and hopefully you guys did too. You voted and voted, and that little video was watched over 1,300 times. Bananas. I still can't even believe that I was one of the winners. In January we headed to New York to film the fabulous video you see above. Despite warnings from Lucky editors about filming outside in 10-degree weather, I wore heels in the snow with no tights, gloves, or a hat. Listen, when you get your chance to film a video with a few super beauty brands and Lucky Magazine, it's not the day for comfort shoes and a beanie, no ma'am. I survived, and the video is something that I'll always love. In April, the New Voices of Beauty train moved on to Lucky FABB West where our duties included chatting all things fashion and beauty with other bloggers over brunch at the SLS Hotel. Tough job, but someone had to do it. I've been to Lucky's Fashion and Beauty Blogger conference a few times now, and seeing my name on the program as one of the co-hosts of the brunch was surreal. Getting to meet Eva Chen, Lucky's Editor-In-Chief and all-around-cool-girl, wasn't so bad either. I'm beyond thankful to everyone at Lucky and the P&G team who made this campaign a really fun success and even more thankful to all of YOU who voted and voted to get me here. As a thank you, I'm sharing the beauty wealth and giving away a bunch of my favorite products from COVERGIRL, Pantene, Secret, and Olay worth over $100. (Who loves ya, baby?) Just click around below to enter. One winner will be announced on Tuesday, July 1st. Last week I took a little roadtrip up the California coast with Eric and my parents, so today I'm sharing a few snaps (via Instagram) from the trip. We spent one night in Cambria and had dinner at the Sea Chest, an absolute must-stop if you're ever in the area. It's such a cozy little restaurant, and if you have to wait for a table (which is pretty likely), you can do it with a glass of wine at their outdoor fire pit. We headed out after breakfast and took a quick tour at Hearst Castle before making it to Big Sur. We stayed two nights at Big Sur Lodge and spent most of our time taking in the sights, enjoying the food (a little too much), and hanging out by a fire. It was a really great trip and one that I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking to roam California's coast a bit. What are some of your favorite places to visit via roadtrip? xoxo H&M sweater; Free People "Shark Bite" shorts; BDG plaid (serious favorite); DV by Dolce Vita booties (on sale!); Scala hat; Ray-Ban sunglasses; Jane Basch necklace Today I'm rejoining the real world after a few beautiful days traveling California's coast with my family. We spent two nights in Big Sur which is one of my favorite places in the world because you can disconnect and just enjoy the beauty around you. We snapped these pictures on the way out to Pfeiffer Beach (which turned out to be WAY too cold and windy for us). I pretty much lived in these Free People shorts and DV booties the entire trip, and I picked up this hat in our hotel gift shop. A lightweight sweater (last seen here as a dress) was the perfect windy-day topper. Overall it was an amazing trip, and I'll be sharing a few more snaps tomorrow. Stay tuned! xoxo Aqua sweatshirt; Athleta pants; Sam Edelman flats; Kate Spade Saturday bag; C.Wonder sunglasses; OK1984 necklace; Gorjana rings; Alex & Ani wrap bracelet Happy Friday, everyone! This week I've been on a little roadtrip up the California coast, and our first stop for the night was in Cambria. This is one of my favorite little sleepy cities, and I was so happy to visit Cambria again. It's situated right on the ocean, and the town is just adorable, full of antique shops, classic candy stores, and coffee houses. It was such a relaxing night with my family. This comfy outfit was perfect for exploring the city and then jumping in the car headed to our next stop, Big Sur. Last night was our first night in Big Sur, and it's just as magical as I remember. More posts to come next week, but follow along on Instagram for snaps from my trip. Hope everyone has a great weekend! xoxo In my handbag:

This time I'll be joining my fellow New Voices of Beauty bloggers and COVERGIRL, Olay Fresh Effects, Pantene, and Secret to take in the conference and then chat beauty and blogging on a panel during day two. While my outfit for day one is still in the works (no minute like the last minute), I've definitely begun setting aside my beauty essentials and a few fashion staples. I'm so, so excited to see old friends, meet a few new ones, and take in Lucky FABB #4. Who else is going? xoxo Disclosure: This post is sponsored by COVERGIRL, Olay Fresh Effects, Pantene, and Secret, but all opinions are my own. Photos thanks to Brighton Keller Sanctuary leather-front dress (c/o); Zara coat; BCBGeneration heels (c/o) Fatal Obsessions; H&M bag; Samantha Wills and Nikia Jewelry rings via Big Drop NYC; Ray-Ban sunglasses (borrowed from Brighton) Today I'm sharing my final look from New York Fashion Week, and this one was definitely one of my favorites. I loved how this icy blue coat stood out in a sea of black jackets, and paired with an ivory leather-front dress, it was the perfect snow-day color palette. I added a bit of shine with mirrored aviators and iridescent heels and finished off the look with a couple of statement rings. Looking back, NYFW was such a whirlwind, but I had a blast. I hope you've enjoyed following along!
