Urban Decay Naked Illuminating Beauty Balm; bareMinerals Original Foundation ; Urban Decay Naked Flushed Face: Of all the BB creams I've tried, this illuminating formula from Urban Decay definitely takes the cake. It blends in super smooth and non-greasy, and the look is like my skin but better. (In general, I'm loving the new NAKED skin collection from Urban Decay.) I've used bareMinerals since moving to California, and well if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's just the perfect amount of coverage for my skin. When it comes to bronzers and blushes, I switch them out all the time, but for now, I'm loving the "just spent my afternoon at the beach" flushed look of this one. Urban Decay Original Naked Palette; CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara; Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Liner Eyes: For daytime, I go with a quick swipe of gold shadow and mascara to keep things pretty minimal. To amp things up at night, I'll add in a couple more shadows from this NAKED palette (you really can't go wrong with this one) and line lightly with black eyeliner. This "24/7 Velvet" version from Urban Decay is seriously the easiest, smoothest liner I've tried. Body: These days I'm religious about sunscreen, and for a day at the beach, I usually use SPF 70 on my face. Neutrogena is definitely my favorite line of sun protection. This Beach Defense lotion (also available in a spray) is my current staple, but I'll pretty much try anything new they come out with. This new body balm by Urban Decay adds the perfect amount of bronze to disguise my level of pale. Olay Fresh Effects (Everything Off) Makeup Removal Wet Cloths; Olay Fresh Effects (Dew Over) Hydrating Gel Moisturizer; Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater The Extras: I am addicted to makeup remover cloths, and these are great. It's so quick and easy to just wipe off the day. The hydrating gel is perfect for morning or night and feels amazing on my skin. I really love it for the hot weather because it dries completely grease-free. The Mario Badescu spray is something I recently picked up on a whim, and I'm loving it already. During a hot day, a couple of spritzes over my makeup is so cooling and refreshing, and the smell of rosewater lingers for a while. I keep it in my purse at all times. While fall is my favorite season for fashion, summer is my favorite time to experiment with skincare and makeup. I look for lightweight products that give a slightly dewy finish and can withstand the heat. Above I'm sharing a few of my tried and true products for the warm weather ahead, but I'd love to hear from you. What are some of your favorite skincare or makeup must-haves? xoxo

Photos: Taylor Cole Photography Clover Canyon cover up via Marshall's; Becca swimsuit; Kluster bracelets (blue and orange) (c/o); Ray-Ban sunglasses; Vera Bradley Straw Tote (c/o) These days, there's nothing I'd rather do than go to the beach. The weather has been so perfect, it's a constant battle to remind myself that being a beach bum doesn't pay the bills. Bummer. But on the weekends, it's free game, and if we have no plans, I'm there. I live in breezy coverups that take me from the beach to, well, wherever. Clover Canyon is one of my favorite brands for bold prints and statement looks, so when I found this coverup at Marshall's (on the sale rack, even better), I couldn't resist. It's definitely a piece that gets people talking. The print reminds me of roadtrips through Arizona, and I love the easy, oversized fit. Sadly, this one is sold out, but check out some of the other great prints below. Hope everyone is having a great week! xoxo Photos: Taylor Cole Photography Swell jumpsuit (converted to pants) (c/o); Forever 21 tee; Urban Outfitters vest; necklace (c/o) Paula & Chlo - 25% off with code MYSTYLEDIARIES25; Henri Bendel sunglasses; Michael Kors watch; Gorjana ring; NARS Velvet Matte Pencil in Dragon Girl Gosh I'm a sucker for printed pants. In general I'm a huge fan of wide leg pants like these, and when you slap a bold summer kaleidoscope print on them, well then there's just no saying no. These were originally part of a halter jumpsuit from Swell.com (which has sadly sold out), and although I love a good jumpsuit, I just couldn't help snipping these into separates. Paired with a white tee and oversized denim vest, they make for an easy summer look finished with staple accessories. Hope everyone is having a great week!
xoxo Forever 21 dress; JustFab sandals (c/o); Kate Spade Saturday bag; Henri Bendel sunglasses; Tiny Devotions necklace; Jane Basch nameplate necklace; Alex & Ani bracelets Nothing screams summer quite like a little white dress, and this one is definitely one of my new favorites. I picked it up at Forever 21 during my one-day Vegas trip, and I've already put it to good use. It was the perfect lightweight dress for Palm Springs, and I couldn't resist throwing it on again this past weekend. Gladiator sandals, a crossbody bag, and an eclectic mix of jewelry finished off the look. Here's hoping everyone's June is off to a great start! xoxo Today I'm sharing the last set of pictures from my fun day shooting with Sanctuary Clothing a couple months ago. Playing the part of the "Modernist Girl", I got to try on some of their modern-inspired pieces for summer. The neutrals and black-and-white patterns were what originally drew me in, but the bold prints and leather jackets are what sold me on the collection. These shorts are so perfect for summer because they're eye catching but so comfortable. Paired with an easy tee and the pastel leather jacket, it was summertime perfection for me. I had so much fun shooting with the Sanctuary team and seriously want everything in the collection. (Click on the pictures below to check out my previous posts with Sanctuary.) Hope everyone has a great weekend! xoxo From season to season, it's always fun shopping for new summer staples and adding in fun, trendy pieces, but I also love rediscovering favorites from the year before. There's nothing better than slipping on that favorite summer sandal or sundress that's been tucked away for a while and wearing it in all new ways. After the recent heat wave here, I knew it was time to switch into full-on summer mode, but things in my closet, and home in general, had admittedly become a bit of a mess. Along with the mess in my wardrobe, my mind was feeling cluttered, and I was kind of in a funk. My clothing rack, which had once been so organized with the season's favorites, was NOT something I wanted to look at, and my handbag situation was out of control to say the least. My dresser had become a place to pile crap, and my office definitely showed signs of "busy". Recently Starbucks challenged a bunch of bloggers to reveal their "wardrobe refresh" and share how we're getting ready for summer. It couldn't have come at a better time for me, and I knew it was my cue for a complete summer clean-out. I started with the dreaded handbag reorganization and soon found myself building a shelving unit and pretty much going on a room-to-room rampage. I LOVE how it all turned out, and the new color-coordinated shelves make it so easy for me to find the handbag or jewelry that I'm looking for. I sorted through clothes, shoes, and jewelry and decided what I no longer needed. (Some items are now listed for sale on my Pose account, and I'll be getting more up soon.) Onto the bedroom. I cleaned off and reorganized the dresser, and things just feel so much simpler now. Finally, I hit the office and began a bit of a "cork board clearing" followed by throwing away just about everything in sight. Ahh, feels good. If you're looking to jumpstart your own summer clean-out, check out my tips below on small organizational changes. You'll be happy you did because there's nothing like hitting the "refresh" button. xoxo Bottled Starbucks Iced Coffee beverages are the perfect blend of premium Starbucks coffee and 2 percent milk. Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Hudson jeans; Forever 21 blouse; Johnny Was scarf; DV Dolce Vita sandals; Kate Spade Saturday bag (sold out, butlove this version); Zero UV sunglasses; Alex & Ani bangles This little striped blouse is one Forever 21 purchase that I've worn to pieces. (See it here, here, and here.) This time I'm pairing it with a new favorite pair of skinnies and a fun, tasseled scarf, both of which I scored at Super Saturday recently. Johnny Was scarves are such a great way to add a little pop to any outfit, and I love how it ties in with the muted pink bucket bag. This bag has been going everywhere with me lately because it's the perfect little weekend or weekday errand size. I finished the look off with aviators and sandals for an easy and laidback summer look. Hope everyone is having a great week!
xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography LOFT dress (last seen here); Jessica Simpson heels; Rovi Moss bag; Baublebar necklace; C.Wonder bracelet; Ray-Ban sunglasses; NYX Matte Lipstick in Shocking Pink So how was everyone's Memorial Day weekend? We spent ours in Palm Springs, hanging by the pool, eating way too much, and laughing with friends. It was an amazing few days of enjoying America's freedoms and thinking about those who fought for it. I'm eternally grateful to the men and women of the military, including a couple in my own family, and couldn't be prouder to be an American. Now it's back to reality, and the real world can be a tough one to reenter after a long weekend. A bright, colorblocked look (and the realization that Monday is already over) can help me ease into it though. This LOFT dress (last seen here and recently tailored) is a standout without going over the top when paired with a hot pink bag and nude heels. Simple accessories completed the look for a nine-to-five and beyond summer feel. Hope everyone has a great (short!) week. xoxo Photos: Taylor Cole Photography Blu Moon Romper (also love this one); Boera necklace and ring (c/o); Sam Edelman heels; Rebecca Minkoff bag (c/o) Paula & Chlo Whew, it's been a week. But today is Friday, and we're headed out to Palm Springs for the long weekend to spend some quality time by the pool with a "boat drink" in hand. Packing for Palm Springs always involves figuring out the coolest things in my wardrobe to beat the heat, and I'm thinking this little floral romper will be perfect for a desert night. I scooped it up at Super Saturday, a recent charity event in Los Angeles, on major sale and couldn't wait to wear it. Silver accessories and a go-to summer bag added the finishing touches. Hope everyone has an amazing Memorial Day weekend! xoxo Photos thanks to Hadasa Forever 21 blouse; J.Crew shorts; JustFab heels (c/o); Rovi Moss bag (c/o); Jane Basch necklace; Bracelets: C.Wonder and Alex and Ani; Michael Kors watch; Gorjana ring; Ray-Ban sunglasses This weekend we finally got a little break from last week's heat wave, and it turned out to be a beautiful couple of days. I've never really been a fan of linen (the wrinkles drive me nuts), but when I found these shorts at a J.Crew Factory store recently, the color and bold print beat out the fact that they were a linen blend. Paired with an easy striped top and simple sandals, they're an easy summer staple. I could also see this look topped off with a white blazer and heels for a more dressed-up feel. By the way, am I the last person to know that there's a whole J.Crew Factory site with some of the best sale finds, like, ever? Check out a few of my favorite pieces below in this fun summer print. Hope everyone has a great week! xoxo |
