They are my definite go-to pair, and I'm seriously considering scooping up another pair. In the summertime, I'm a fan of pairing pretty much anything with denim shorts, so I love the dressed-up feel of adding a white blazer, wedges, and a ladylike bag. Stacked gold jewelry and a red lip provide the finishing touches. Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend! xoxo

These days it seems that subscription boxes and services are a dime a (literal) dozen, but when you find one that's perfect for you, well then you've got a lot of very good mail days coming. This week I had one of those very good mail days opening this Quarterly box curated by Nina Garcia. If you're into fashion and beauty and Marie Claire's Creative Director is picking out a bunch of products for you, it's probably going to work out just fine. (And actually, no matter what you're into, Quarterly probably has a box for that.) This quarter's box is chocked full of beauty and other products that were all inspired by Brazil, and really, what better inspiration for the middle of summer? From sunblock (always a necessity) to deep conditioner (amen), a creamy lipstick (never too many) to the yummiest-smelling candle (see previous), there's something for my every beauty mood, and experimentation is just half the fun. Plus, I've had this Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray on my must-try list for a while now. Plus, how cute is this palm tree-printed clutch? I could go on. But then I started thinking, and I'm pretty sure the below images could represent my perfect Saturday: Every girl could use a little Saturday morning pampering, so give yourself a Joico deep conditioning treatment, air-dry, and add in a little texture thanks to Oribe. (Ahem, and shave your legs, while you're at it, with the organic shave gel by Surya Brasil.) Next head out for a little R&R at the beach with your phone and small essentials in the Palm Tree Print Clutch by Print All Over Me. Bring along the Hawaiian Tropic sunblock (obviously) and chic in-ear headphones by Frends. After your day at the beach, get gussied up for a night out with this sultry Calvin Klein lipstick in "speakeasy"... Or, hang out at your amazing-smelling home with a good read, a nail project, and refreshed skin. And there you have it, my Saturday in a (literal) box. Although this quarter's box is already sold out, head on over to Quarterly to sign up to receive Nina's next curated box. (I figure we're on a first-name basis these days.) Bonus: if you sign up now, you'll probably forget that you did and be totally surprised by the time it arrives. Whether you like surprises or not, good mail day packages are usually the best kind of surprises. Am I right? xoxo Disclosure: I received a Quarterly box to review, and I honestly just really dig it. Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Blank NYC jeans; Equipment blouse via Marshalls; Halogen heels (on sale!); Rebecca Minkoff bag (pre-order it here, also in charcoal here); C. Wonder bracelet; Alex & Ani gold bracelet; Michael Kors watch; Forever 21 rings and sunglasses; Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Live It Up Lately I've found myself really drawn to ladylike pieces that will add polish to a simple denim look. I'm such a sucker for Equipment's butter-soft silk blouses, so when I find them at Marshalls, it's a no-brainer. Paired with super skinnies and my recent Nordstrom finds, it's such an easy pulled-together look for summer. Finish off with funky cateyes, a bright bracelet, and a bold red lip. Hope everyone is having a great week! xoxo Kick Picks: Bags and Accessories: Clothing: The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is on, and my bank account is in serious trouble. While I've already shopped the sale (and maybe a little of the not-on-sale), there are SO many things still on my wishlist, so today I've decided to share a few. My clothing picks are all about leather, more leather, and things that go with leather, and the shoes and accessories are a bit of everything else. There are some seriously drool-worthy bags included in the sale, and all the boots have me thinking I should stock up for fall. What are some of your favorites?
xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Young Fabulous & Broke jumpsuit via Marshalls (similar); Report Signature flats (similar); Ann Taylor scarf; Louis Vuitton Verona bag; Free People leather jacket; Ray-Ban sunglasses These days when it comes to traveling, I'm no stranger to the red-eye flight. If I'm flying to the East Coast, it's the best way to maximize my time there. I usually don't mind taking an overnight flight because luckily I sleep so well on planes, but it can be tricky dressing for it. I want to be as comfortable as possible for sleeping (read: no jeans, heels, etc.), and I try to stick with non-wrinkling fabrics that won't look like a hot mess on arrival. Jersey maxi dresses and jumpsuits are always a favorite, and this one, found recently at Marshalls, is just the softest. The tapered legs mean I can wear it with flats, and it's easy enough to shimmy down during bathroom breaks. (TMI? Sorry, it's jumpsuit truth.) I'm usually cold on planes, so I make sure to bring a cozy scarf and warm jacket along with a roomy handbag big enough for the essentials. What is your go-to look when traveling? xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Rieley dress (c/o); LA Made tank dress; Urban Outfitters vest; Scala hat; Kelsi Dagger booties via Fatal Obsessions (on sale!); Kate Spade Saturday bag; Ray-Ban sunglasses; Gorjana at Nordstrom necklaces - here and here (c/o); H&M cuff; La Mer Collections watch; Gorjana rings I've noticed a definite trend in my closet additions lately, and it involves a lot of white. This little white dress from Rieley is one of those perfect, throw-on-and-go styles that can be worn a million different ways. For today's look, I went with a bohemian vibe and added an ombre vest, wide-brim hat, and these adorable booties that are on killer sale right now. I finished things off with a go-to crossbody bag and mixed jewelry favorites. Speaking of jewelry, one of my favorite brands Gorjana has just launched on Nordstrom.com, and the collection is really, really good. And while we're on the subject of Nordstrom, right now it's the Annual Sale, and well, that's always really, really good. Happy shopping and hope everyone has an amazing weekend! xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Helloooo, out there, and happy Tuesday! This week I'm excited to once again team up with the adorable Olia from Love, Olia to bring you a little style under $100, and this time we're playing favorites with Lulu's. If you're not familiar, Lulu's is a go-to site for buys on a budget with the cutest selection of clothing and accessories. My favorite by far has got to be their shoe section where you can get seriously on-trend styles that won't break the bank. (Hello, new gladiators under $40.) For this week's $100 challenge, I just couldn't resist this jumpsuit (because when can I ever resist a good jumpsuit), and I love pairing the navy silk one piece with black accessories. A simple pair of heels and accessories completed the look for a date night, work event, girls' night out, or anything in between. Looking for a little more budget inspiration? Head over to Love, Olia and check out her Lulu's look. Hope everyone is having a great week!
xoxo By now, summer is in full swing, and it seems like we have plans every weekend from now to eternity. While there are some fun times on the horizon, there's one particular set of plans that I'm definitely looking forward to. A couple of friends from home (Louisiana) are coming out to California, and we're doing a road trip up the coast. I couldn't be more excited, and I'm currently counting down the days. We're starting in Newport Beach and hitting Santa Barbara, Big Sur, and San Francisco among other stops. In my head I've already begun to pack, and it looks pretty much like this. In the summer heat, there's nothing I love more than a breezy pair of shorts and a tank, and this tank from Athleta is the lightest, softest ever. Easy accessories and a swimsuit (love these pieces from Athleta) are a must, and a few bangles and my new favorite fragrance add the cherry on top. I'm so excited to share this adventure with you guys, so stay tuned! Have a great week! xoxo Athleta tank (c/o); random floral shorts (similar); Free People headband; Rovi Moss handbag; Persol sunglasses; JustFab sandals; Alex & Ani bangles; Commodity Goods Gold fragrance; Athleta swim top and bottom (c/o) This post is brought to you by Athleta, but opinions are 100% my own. Vera Bradley bag and towel (both on sale!); Ray-Ban sunglasses; Neutrogena sunblock: for face and body; Mario Badescu facial spray; Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee; Free People headband (similar); Emi-Jay hair tie; Athleta swim top and bottom In the summertime it feels like we're always on the go, and whether it's for work or play, it's all about staying cool, refreshed, and ready for anything while on the move. Living so close to the beach, I've always got my beach bag packed and ready. This Vera Bradley bag is my current go-to because it's so lightweight and easy, the perfect size for a towel, a couple of magazines, and my hoards of sunblock. These days, I don't mess around with sunblock: I like high SPF and lots of it. For staying cool and refreshed at the beach, a headband and hair tie combo keeps my hair off my face, and a Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee (cold as ice out of the freezer) is a nice little pick-me-up. Ann Taylor scarf; Clava bag; Marc by Marc Jacobs laptop sleeve; Whish Deodorant Swipes; Justin's Honey Peanut Butter; Emi-Jay hair tie; Forever 21 sunglasses; NARS Velvet Matte Pencil in Dragon Girl; COVERGIRL TruMagic The Perfector; bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Live It Up; Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee; Mario Badescu facial spray For work on the go, I pretty much never leave home without my laptop, and this Clava bag is the perfect size for toting it, along with my other essentials, around. I like to keep a scarf with me for colder office buildings, and red lipstick is great for changing up my look mid-day. These Whish Deodorant Swipes are amazing for an on-the-go refresh, and the Mario Badescu facial spray is so cooling (I bring it with me everywhere). Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee and a packet of Justin's peanut butter is the perfect 3:00 snack. What are some of your on-the-go essentials? xoxo Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee beverages are the perfect blend of premium Starbucks coffee and 2 percent milk. Available in four delicious offerings: Coffee + Milk, Low Calorie Coffee + Milk, Vanilla, and Caramel, Starbucks Iced Coffee ready-to-drink beverages are the perfect on-the-go refreshment to get you through the daily commute, big projects such as spring cleaning, or an exciting road trip with friends. Sperry Top-Sider sandals (c/o) Contrary to my beliefs of acceptable clothing just a few short years ago (I had a real thing against jorts, circa 2007), these days, if it's hot out (and sometimes even if it's not), you can find me in denim cutoffs. Cut right, there's nothing more cool and comfortable for beating the heat than a pair of beat-up cutoffs. This summer I've been l-i-v-i-n in these "Shark Bite" shorts from Free People, but today I'm joining in on a fun little Denim DIY campaign with Sauza to make my own. Armed with a Sauza-rita and a little denim inspiration, it was actually really fun. My favorite "jorts" look is easy and distressed, so I started with an old pair of boyfriend jeans that already had a bit of distressing. Having one too many DIY projects like this turn into shorts that are too short to wear, I decided to cut them a bit longer and keep trimming off inch by inch until I liked the length. It was tedious but worth it. I also used my favorite pair for inseam comparison. Because there's nothing worse than jorts that hug your legs, I cut slits in the outside seams and then ripped the slits a bit. With every cut that I made, I pulled at the loose threads to create a fringe effect. Overall I love the way that they came out and am thinking I may hit up the local thrift store for more jeans to convert. For a little extra inspiration, check out the "Make Jorts With A Cowboy" video below. Hope everyone is having a great week! xoxo Ever think you could make jorts with a cowboy? Here's your chance to meet a man who crafts his heart out. Okay, so maybe he's not the best DIY-er. But what he lacks in cutting skills, he more than makes up for when he makes the perfect Sauza-rita. Watch him in action for ideas for your next ladies' night in: http://bit.ly/1juaLln.
