Looks like we finally made it to the weekend, and there's no better way to celebrate than by getting a little gussied up and heading out with friends. This is pretty much my ideal night out look: dressed up track shorts, an easy tee and optional blazer, barely there heels, and a beyond fun bag. I can't get enough of this little feather bag - so very Cher Horowitz, and what's not to love a little about that? Here's hoping everyone has an amazing weekend! xoxo

Right now I'm all about matching separates, and although these stripes weren't technically meant for each other, I love how they came together. Tucked in and accented with a belt, the two look like an easy romper. A favorite handbag and bold necklace add a couple pops of color. Hope everyone is having a great week! xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Old Navy shirt; Dittos jeans; Joelle Hawkens handbag (c/o); Heels (c/o) Lulu's; Forever 21 necklace; Caravelle by Bulova watch (on sale!); Calvin Klein sunglasses TheAugust issues of all of my favorite magazines were filled with denim, and I couldn't get enough. Skinny, straight, boyfriend, wide leg, or in dresses, skirts and jackets, I love it all. Inspired by the glossies, I definitely plan to work a little more denim on denim into my fall repertoire. By choosing different washes (and in this case chambray) and keeping the rest of the look monochromatic, today's outfit is an easy update on classic staples. I love how the strappy sandals dress up the otherwise casual feel, and the pastel bag is a definite new favorite carryall. What are some of your favorite denim styles for fall? xoxo Equipment blouse; H&M shorts; JustFab sandals; Tory Burch bag; Bracelets: Alex & Ani, Michael Kors, Gorjana; Ray-Ban sunglasses Last weekend we started off our Sunday with a drive to Laguna Beach for breakfast. It was a pretty warm morning, so breezy shorts and a lightweight blouse were the perfect combo. I really can't resist pretty track shorts and scooped these up recently from H&M for about 10 bucks. Gladiator sandals and a bold handbag finished off the look for the perfect weekend feel. Happy Friday, everyone! xoxo In general, I don't suffer from really sensitive skin, but during the hottest parts of summer (which is right now for us), I battle heat rash on an almost daily basis. It usually stays on my forearms and stomach, but occasionally at its worst, it will spread to my face. Because I can't really shut myself inside for the whole summer, I've become really aware of the products I use on my face and aim for the gentlest formulas. When I heard from the Alchimie Forever team, I decided to give the line a shot. The line stresses "Self Care Through Skin Care" and is free of parabens, dyes, soy, gluten, mineral oil, and other known skin irritants. The Purifying Facial Cleanser is ultra gentle, removes makeup, and leaves my skin feeling clean and tight. I use it daily in the shower with my Clarisonic. If you have sensitive skin, it's definitely easy on your skin. Maybe it's because it arrived just in time for a major heat wave, but the Kantic Calming Cream is definitely my favorite moisturizer right now. It's hydrating and perfect for sensitive or irritated skin. The feel of it is a bit watery, and I found when worn during the day, it doesn't get heavy or greasy in the sun. I usually apply a light layer when I get out of the shower and allow it to dry before adding any of my makeup. Now I've got my sights set on other products in the line, including this Tightening Eye Contour Gel and Kantic Brightening Moisture Mask. I love discovering great skincare and beauty lines and would definitely recommend Alchimie Forever for anyone with sensitive skin or for those who prefer all natural products. What are some of your favorite skincare lines? xoxo Free People shorts; Max Studio tee via T.J.Maxx (similar); Old Navy vest; Steve Madden flats; Tory Burch bag; Kristin Perry necklace (c/o) 9th & Elm; Ray-Ban sunglasses Are you guys sick of these Free People shorts yet? By now I've worn them about 100 times, but I can't help myself. On the warmest days they're all I ever want to wear. Today I'm remixing the vest from Monday's post with an old favorite tee and my trusty cutoffs for an easy, slightly nautical feel. These gold flats were kind of an impulse buy in San Francisco, but I've since worn them a ton. They're SO comfortable and pretty much go with anything. I finished off the look with a bit of color: a bold Tory Burch bag and a new turquoise statement piece from 9th & Elm, a really cool site for handmade and independent designers that you might not find elsewhere. I have a couple pieces from Kristin Perry, but this necklace was definitely a score on 9th & Elm. I wore this look for a Friday afternoon bike ride and happy hour and really am in love with every piece. What are some of your go-to items in your closet? xoxo Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography One of my favorite ways to transform an outfit is with a vest, and when I found this one recently at Old Navy, I knew that it would go so well with so many things in my wardrobe. I love mixing dressy and casual pieces for an eclectic look, and this sequined skirt worn with the cargo vest is definitely one of those pairings. Mixed leopard and stripe prints add a bit more interest, and simple accessories finish off the look. Stay tuned this week to see more ways to wear this vest. xoxo Maybe I have my recent time spent in San Francisco to blame (and in particular the 30 or so minutes shivering at the Golden Gate Bridge) or maybe it's an upcoming trip to New York for Fashion Week, but my mind has been wandering to fall fashion lately. I can't help it. To me, there's just nothing like those first cool days (which unfortunately come around December here...) where you can throw on a sweater and scarf and boots and whatever else your heart desires. (Whatever, I sweat it out in the fall here.) Yesterday I came to from a mind wander in my 100 degree house and realized that dang-it, it's still summer, and you live at the beach, woman. Our summer here is really just beginning (the "June Gloom" struggle this year was really real), and there's nothing better than a swimsuit and breezy coverup all weekend long. I came across the Kenna-Maxi brand recently, and I'm pretty much in love with every piece. They're luxe but worth the price for that special vacation or if you, like me, plan to live in one. A few bohemian accessories and a beach bag to hold the essentials are all you need. Here's hoping everyone is soaking up the summer and living in the moment! xoxo Get the Look!
Inspired by yesterday's post with my favorite oldie-but-goodie dress, I figured I'd round up a few available-now shirtdresses (and probably scoop up this Lilla P version for myself). In lightweight fabrics and sleeveless silhouettes, these hot weather staples will get you through the summer and pair well with jackets and booties for those first few days of fall. Happy shopping! xoxo Julie Vos necklace Photos thanks to Taylor Cole Photography Today's look features an "oldie but goodie" dress that's been in rotation for a couple of years now. I picked it up on the Urban Outfitters sale rack for about $7 and have since worn it to pieces. It's one of those fall-back dresses that I grab anytime "I have nothing to wear", and it's especially key on the hottest days. Worn with flats (or sandals or booties) during the day with a blazer, it's perfect for looking pulled together without overheating. Once the sun goes down, switch to strappy heels and a classic bag for an easy dinner or night out look. Hope everyone is having a great week! P.S. - Want suggestions for similar dresses?
