Old Navy jeans; American Apparel shirt; Gap jacket; Gorjana clutch (similar); BCBGeneration heels; Ray-Ban sunglasses; Ninotchka Goods necklace; Rings: Gorjana and Claudia Lobao Yesterday was definitely a warm and sunny one, so it seemed only appropriate to pull out the white denim. (Never too soon, right?) Lightweight layers on top were key for keeping my cool. With spring fast approaching, it's time to start switching up my fashion and beauty routines, and the latter can sometimes be a little tricky. If you're like me and want to chat spring beauty (and enter to win some sweet goodies from P&G while doing it), join me and the rest of the New Voices of Beauty (Naty, Katie, and Amy) along with Lucky Magazine tonight at 7pm EST for a Twitter party! 7 For All Mankind jeans; Silk blouse via T.J.Maxx; BCBGeneration heels via T.J.Maxx (similar); Michael Kors clutch; Jane Basch necklace; Julie Vos bracelet; Henri Bendel sunglasses With the arrival of March, I've got one thing on my mind: spring. And more specifically, spring fashion. While I love the darker clothes of winter, nothing says fresh and new like an ivory and blush color palette. Recently I stopped in to T.J.Maxx for the usual browse and ended up coming home with this entire outfit. Once I found the blush skinnies (that fit like a glove and are beyond comfortable), an airy ivory blouse naturally came next, and the shoes, well, I couldn't say no. A favorite straw clutch and gold jewelry finished off the look. What spring pieces are you excited to add to your winter wardrobe?
xoxo True Religion jeans; Forever 21 blouse; ASTR leather top; H&M jacket; Zara heels; Winky Designs clutch (c/o); Calvin Klein sunglasses; La Mer Collections watch (c/o); Serene Sky midi ring (c/o) Last night capped off awards season with the biggest fashion show of them all: The Academy Awards. The Oscars are always my favorite red carpet to watch because the stars tend to go for all-out glam, and last night's looks did not disappoint. Kerry Washington and Olivia Wilde (below) showed that dressing a bump can be oh-so-glam; Lupita Nyong'o continued her red carpet domination (and made us all cry with her acceptance speech); Kate Hudson reminded everyone of her serious red carpet power; and Charlize Theron killed it in standard Charlize fashion. While beautiful pastels and metallics definitely had their place on the carpet last night, some of my favorite ladies stunned in head-turning black. Charlize, always a favorite of mine, was hands-down my best dressed of the night, but all of the women below deserve major credit for standing out in black. From a jewel-encrusted top to an eye-catching bow back to a fun lace peplum, the key to rocking these black looks is all in the details. Inspired by the red carpet, I created my own dark look and broke up the monotony by mixing textures. Finish the look with a sequin clutch and a bold pink lip. Looking back at this season's awards shows, how will you create your own red carpet inspired "One of a Kind Style"? xoxo All images via Getty Images With a delicious One of a Kind taste and zero calories, Diet Dr Pepper is as unique as you are. Black Orchid jeans; top via No Rest for Bridget; Heartloom vest (old); Louis Vuitton bag; Vita Fede ring; Ray-Ban sunglasses Inspired by my horrible hair in yesterday's post, I decided it was time for a much-needed trim. I scored a lucky last-minute appointment, and two hours later I was in the chair impulsively changing my mind from a trim to a full-on chop. It's a fun little change, and I'm glad I decided to just do it. This weekend I'm off to New York to meet up with these lovely ladies and shoot a fun little video. Praying I don't freeze to death, but I'm so excited to head back to New York. (Follow along on Instagram for fun snaps from my trip.) Hope everyone has an amazing weekend! xoxo H&M dress; Urban Outfitters vest; Chinese Laundry flats (c/o); OK1984 necklace; Kluster beaded bracelets (c/o); Forever 21 clutch; Calvin Klein sunglasses Friday is finally here, and I'm so excited for the weekend. I'm taking advantage of a slight chill this morning with my favorite sweater dress of the moment (scored for $10 at H&M), fool-proof flats, and stacks of bracelets. Right now I'm loving these bold beaded bracelets from Kluster because they add a little color to an otherwise neutral look. By this afternoon it'll be 80 degrees, and I've got my sights set on the beach. (Sorry to those of you reading this in freezing weather!) Wishing everyone a great Friday and an amazing weekend.
xoxo Black Orchid jeans (c/o) VAULT; Equipment shirt; Forever 21 vest; Vera Wang boots via Marshall's; Clava clutch (c/o) VAULT; jewelry (c/o) Wantable Although Southern California seems to be stuck in this "high of 70 everyday" Twilight Zone, this morning was gloomy and just chilly enough for a little winter gear. (I'm not mad about missing out on the arctic freeze that has taken over the rest of the country, but sometimes I would like to actually get to wear my winter clothes.) I recently scored these Vera Wang boots on super sale at Marshall's, and I couldn't be happier. They fit like a glove and are comfortable for all-day wear. (Plus, they'll take the place of my old favorites that have been soled and resoled one too many times. Sigh.) Hope everyone is staying warm and having a great week! xoxo True Religion jeans; BDG shirt; H&M sweater; Trouve cape; Chinese Laundry flats (c/o); Forever 21 clutch; Baublebar necklace (c/o); Ray-Ban sunglasses; Henri Bendel and C.Wonder bracelets Well it was a warm and beautiful Christmas at the beach, and I couldn't have asked for a better time with family and friends. In the mornings and evenings it's still cold enough for a few winter layers, so I decided to throw on three Christmas gifts at once (the shirt, sweater, and cape) yesterday for dinner and a little shopping. I love the plaid paired with the fuzzy (and ultra-cozy) sweater, and I figured I'd go monochromatic by topping the oxblood skinnies with the similarly-hued cape. Hope you had a great holiday week, and happy Friday, everyone!
xoxo LOFT jeans; ASTR leather top; Gap jacket (similar); Zara heels; Nine West bag; Calvin Klein sunglasses; Boera ring Well Mother Nature, she is a fickle little wench. The temps this weekend were constantly up and down, necessitating shorts at times and cozy fireplace fires at others. It's days like these that I'm very happy that I stocked up on a few new lightweight blazers this "winter". Paired with skinny jeans and a fun leather tee, a lightweight blazer is all I need for these sort-of chilly days. I'm headed home to Louisiana tomorrow for a few days, and I'm pretty excited for some actual colder weather. (Just one problem: packing everything I've been dying to wear.) Hope everyone's Thanksgiving week is off to a great start! xoxo Black Orchid jeans (c/o) VAULT; Equipment blouse; Margaret O'Leary sweater (c/o); World Footwear Group boots (c/o) VAULT; Tory Burch bag; C.Wonder bracelet A few years ago while shopping for a Halloween costume, I came across a reasonable pair of over-the-knee boots and scooped them up for my costume thinking I'd probably never wear them again. "Over-the-knee boots, so scandalous!" is pretty much what I was thinking. (Give me a break. I was new to L.A. and was never really into that shock factor when it came to my wardrobe.) A few weeks after that Halloween, I decided to try out the boots over a pair of skinny jeans and was immediately hooked. I couldn't believe how easy they were to throw on over jeans and leggings and how surprisingly non-scandalous they were when worn with the right sweater dresses. I wore them until the soles were gone and had to toss them out when their solelessness (totally a word) caused a serious slip-and-bust-my-butt moment on the way to class one rainy day. Fast forward to Fall 2013, and over-the-knee boots are EVERYWHERE. Seriously. And I've been on the hunt now for months. Every pair that I've found are either annoyingly pricey or have some sort of hardware that just doesn't sit well with me. When VAULT invited me to choose a couple of things from their site this month, these boots were a no-brainer. They're simple and fit well, and the dip in the back means they won't get all bent out of shape every time you sit down for more than five minutes. The best part? The price. (Fifty bucks, people. Fifty bucks.) Although I could probably wear these about 500 different ways, I'm narrowing it down and showing three fool-proof outfits with over-the-knee boots this week. For today's look, there's really nothing easier than throwing them over a pair of skinny jeans, but I love the contrast of pairing them with grey skinnies. And these grey skinnies just so happen to be a new favorite pair. I've had a thing for Black Orchid denim ever since the first pair I tried a few years ago. Their jeggings are the most comfortable you'll ever own, and I feel like the mid-rise fit is kind of made for my body. (I'm not 18 anymore, so the low-rise thing that a lot of brands do just doesn't work for me.) For premium denim, the price is also pretty hard to beat. (I could go on, but seriously, just try them.) I paired the bottom half with a yummy silk blouse and cozy-to-the-max sweater and finished things off with a bold handbag. Stay tuned this week for two more ways to wear these boots, and don't forget to check out the VAULT blog for the ramblings of me and a couple of other fabulous bloggers. Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! xoxo Disclosure: This post is sponsored by VAULT, but all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make My Style Diaries possible.
LOFT jeans and flats; Forever 21 tee; jacket via T.J.Maxx; Urban Outfitters scarf; Nordstrom sunglasses (similar); Louis Vuitton Verona bag I suppose it's casual Tuesdays here on the blog. It's the start of a great week for me. I'm heading out to New York tomorrow for Lucky FABB (Fashion and Beauty Bloggers' Conference), and it's seriously like Christmas to me. I'm so excited to be back in New York and reunited with a few favorite fellow bloggers. But before that, there's loose ends to tie and oh-so-much packing to be done. It's the sort of start to the week that requires something comfy and cozy, like an easy jeans and tee combo. A leather trimmed jacket like this one (last seen here) adds a little bit of an "I care" aspect, and a favorite scarf is perfect for a chilly evening. I'm excited to share this season's #LuckyFABB adventure, so I hope you're following along on Instagram and Twitter. Hope everyone is having a great week!
